The Ilhéu da Vila (translated from the Portugues "Village Islet") dive spot's most interesting characteristic is the intriguing shape of the rock formations that formed during the volcanic events that created this Island.
The dive begins at the top of a ridge towards the southern part of the island.
The depth varies between 12 and 18 meters.
As we swim forward, we can see pieces of lava at the bottom and observe Groupers and bentonics species. Depending on our route, we can also see the remains of some small shipwrecks.
The curious-looking rock formations seem like hexagonal pinnacles that are coming out of the seabed, resulting in an exotic scenery and making us wonder how boiling lava could have taken such strange shapes.
