What you will see
Rock Formations, Sandy bottom, Sea Life, Shoals of Fish
Average Depth:
12mts
Maximum Depth:
30mts
Water Temperature:
18ºC-24ºC
This particular site has greater depths and because it is outside the bay protection, it has moderate currents. Hence why it is only recommended for experienced divers.
The bottom is located down at the depth of 30mts, where we can find large slabs and a marine bottom of rock and sand. Here we find many typical species of the Azores sea, this includes large shoals of Cow-breams, black Morays and Groupers.
The sandy area is the ideal place to find species that like to stretch out on the seabed such as common Rays, small Plaice and Atlantic Lizardfish.
At the end of the deepest rock formation you can see schools of pelagic fish including yellow-tailed Barracudas and blue Goldfish.
